Removal of South Ribble Air Quality Management Areas.
Overview
South Ribble Borough Council is considering removing the Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) in the borough
These places are:
- Victoria Road, Walton-le-Dale (near Capitol Centre)
- Watkin Lane, Leyland Road and Brownedge Road junction, Lostock Hall
- Station Road, Bamber Bridge
- Turpin Green Lane, Churchill Way and Golden Hill Lane, Leyland
For many years, the air in these areas has been cleaner than the national emission limits. Because of this, DEFRA has asked for these areas to be removed from the national AQMA list.
This is good news for the borough and the people who live here.
Air quality checks will still happen across the borough, and if the air quality gets worse, the decision can be changed.
