Overview

Consultation – 2 - 14 Feb

Covid-19 has fundamentally changed the world that we live in and we’ve all faced big challenges over the last 12 months.

As a council we have worked hard to provide the support our residents need while sustaining vital services like collecting bins, cutting grass and maintaining our beautiful parks. Through the South Ribble Together Hub we have helped over 1,000 families by making sure food is available for those who need it, helping people get online to access services and connecting residents with important sources of information and advice about wellbeing, finance and housing.  Over 1,500 businesses have been supported and a total over £1m in grants allocated.

We want to make sure that we give our borough the best chance to come back even stronger after the pandemic.

Last year, the council reviewed and updated its Corporate Strategy in the light of Covid-19 with refreshed priorities to ensure South Ribble has:

  • An exemplary council
  • Good homes, green spaces and healthy places
  • Thriving communities
  • A fair local economy that works for everyone

We have a relentless focus on creating the conditions, partnerships and services that support improvements in the lives of our residents, ensuring they have opportunities to succeed and thrive.

The budget aims to underpin the delivery of our corporate priorities. We want to:

  • Protect our most vulnerable and keep South Ribble safe through the pandemic
  • Maintain a strong balanced budget for the next year
  • Provide a solid foundation for an ambitious recovery

Most importantly, we want to make sure that you get the best value for money from your council tax and see it allocated to the things that will make the biggest difference for you, your family and your local area.

As part of the budget setting process we are seeking your views to inform the decision on the final budget which will be considered by Council on the 24th February.

Why your views matter

Its important we seek residents views because we want to make sure that you get the best value for money from your council tax and see it allocated to the things that will make the biggest difference for you, your family and your local area.

What happens next

Your responses will be considered and put to full Council in order for them to make the final decision on the budget for 2021/2022.
