Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation for Nixon Wood in Moss Side, Leyland.  The results of the consultation can be found in the links below.

Following a review of the responses received the decision has been taken not to include a project in the council's capital improvement programme for parks and open spaces to create a concessionary route for horses through Nixon Wood and to retain the path for pedestrians only.

The council will continue to work with partners at other locations to ensure the borough has suitable concessionary routes for use by horse riders to provide safe off-road links between our greenspaces.

Overview

South Ribble Borough Council is seeking views from the local community on proposed improvements to the path running through Nixon Woods in Moss Side, Leyland, between Ulnes Walton Lane and Nixon Lane. The proposed work aims to enhance accessibility through the woodland, expanding the current use of the paths to include concessionary access for horses as well as pedestrians.

Works are also proposed to improve the pond for the benefit of wildlife by improving light levels, aquatic vegetation and water levels to support a wider range of species.

Why your views matter

We are inviting the local community to provide feedback on the proposal by telling us:

  • How often you use the woodland and what you use it for
  • How you would like to see the woodland improved and access managed in the future

In addition to the online survey, a drop-in session will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday 24th June at South Ribble Civic Centre on West Paddock where staff will be on hand to provide further information and discuss the proposals.
